KAF writes.

Dear Editor - in - Chief,

  Sakora Wonoo press.

Please help me to understand the word "Honourable".

I guess it's been wrongly used or allotted to a group of people in Ghana who do not deserve it for a moment or at all in their life time.

I wonder why over 30 million honourable citizens of Ghana will continue to call some of these politicians 'honourable'.

Permit me to mention some of the issues that needs to be raised and given attention to by the so called "honourable men" representing the entire nation and recklessly overseeing to the depletion of the resources of our mother land.

First of all, we have in the House of Parliament 275 men and women from the various noble professions including lawyers, teachers and medical Doctors but exhibit very little as regards to learned persons.

Others are just crowd - followers and stomach directed politicians who never dreamt of assuming such positions in governance. The fundamental purpose of parliament if i may presume is to make laws and policies to govern our "poor" country and its resources.

Surprisingly, in spite of all the so called 'honourable' men and women representing the country, one cannot lay claim to the basics of which they have been elected. Successive governments have come and gone in this 4th Republic.

The irony is that, they all accept that the constitution which was written and adopted in 1992 for our current perusal has a lot of defects. From the issues of appointments to disbursement of funds and rewards as conditions of service, it is amazing all haven't deemed it important to correct the known wrongs in the constitution.

Raise an issue about zoomlion with regards to garbage collection and see the so called 'honourable' men and women shouting at the top of their voices.

Put out balloting or nomination and you can hear all the 275 members of Parliament actively debating.

My question is, do we truly have real men of integrity leading us to build a much better Ghana?
