Dr Eric Palmer Amaning, the President of Anglican University College of Technology (ANGUTECH), has admonished employees in Africa to take good care of the people, equipment and resources entrusted to them at the workplace.
He charged workers and graduates seeking employment around the world to lead with integrity, purpose and humility adding that "be accountable to yourself and your own high standards".
The President of ANGUTECH, who addressed the fourth graduation ceremony of the College on Saturday 4th May, 2024 at Nkoranza in the Bono East region, urged graduating students to set good example and bring out the best in them.
A total of 119 students of the 2022/2023 class, all from the School of Food and Health Sciences, passed - out with a call to be decent ambassadors of the University College.
Dr Amaning said under the new Education Regulatory Act 2020 (Act 1023), all private university colleges are expected to charter by 2026, and that ANGUTECH has initiated roadmap to get the institution chartered by Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
"GTEC's requirement for charter requires a lot of financial resources. The university college on 12th April, 2024 launched an Endowment Fund to meet the financial requirement of the charter" he stated.
The President of the University College therefore entreated all and sundry, and stakeholders who have the institution at heart to contribute towards the fund.
He implored individuals and groups far and near including natives of the Bono East region in abroad to support the growth and sustainability of the university college noting that "together we can make ANGUTECH great and strong".
Dr Daniel Owiredu, Chairman of the Governing Council of ANGUTECH, in his remarks, congratulated the graduands for remaining focused, disciplined and committed to effective academic instructions during the period under review.
The Council Chairman indicated that employers today look beyond what was studied on paper saying that they want to know what competencies job seekers possess beyond what was taught in school.
He told the graduating students "you have to adapt to changes as you enter the job market. Your adaptability to change will determine the height to which you will reach as a professional".
Dr Owiredu extended gratitude to staff and students of the university college, traditional authorities, mentoring institutions and regulators among others for their immense contribution to the development of the institution.
The Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Council (NTC), Nana Kwame Baffo IV, who was represented by Nana Adomako Nketiah III, Nkoranza - Kokofu chief, enjoined graduates to exhibit professionalism in their endeavors.
He urged residents of the area to donate to the activities and programmes of the university college to ensure effective teaching and learning stressing that quality education is key to national development.
A graduate, Daniel Afenyi - Donkor, on behalf of his colleagues, thanked God for seeing them through their period emphasising that we will put the skills and knowledge acquired to use to impact society positively.
