The Bridge In The Rain : A Poem Highlighting The Concept Of Toxic -Tribalism, An Omen For Unending Division.

By Aye Brandon Kiven, Cameroon ayebrandonkiven@gmail.com

I like it when rain comes; Humbles the dust that for so long had seemed untouchable And reminds the trees how beautiful they all are As it peels off the misery on their faces And sends them revelling in bottomless joy Each time it comes,

it meets people Destroying bridges As they engage in savage feud About which tribe is more Worried, it would still go about its mission Visiting every head, And unconcerned about the side of the destroyed bridge the head is And afterwards return to its abode, sad That its own bridge was ignored:

I treat them equally and as one people Yet they choose to do the opposite Not concerned about what I want them to understand And when the firmament roars Releasing the type that brings about gloomgloom

The people would still not see that when trouble comes It goes after each one Disregarding the side of the destroyed bridge on which they are

Key Highlights of the Poem

It highlights the concept of toxic -tribalism, drawing attention to the fact that it brings about division. Rain, a symbol of unity, is disappointed that the various tribes have failed to understand that as it doesn't discriminate, being a blessing to all of them, they are also supposed to be a blessing to one another.

It reminds them that when trouble comes, for example, when flood occurs, it affects everyone.

That is, disunity does not make a problem affect only some particular people. Hence, the right thing to do is to embrace unity. For when there is unity, a problem is easily dealt with.
