Goaso Diocesan Catholic Co - operative Society (GODCCOS) - Kenyasi has posted GH¢365,656.44 net surplus in the 2023 financial year compared to GH¢355,335.79 in 2022.
The Co - operative Society recorded a total income of GH¢800,981.56 for the period ended 31st December, 2023 compared to GH¢642,129.09 in the previous year.
GODCCOS - Kenyasi registered a total expenditure of GH¢435,325.12 in the period under review as against GH¢286,793.30 in 2022.
These were contained in the Annual Report and Financial Statement of Kenyasi Society for the period ended 31st December, 2023 at the 3rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday June 8, 2023 at Kenyasi in the Ahafo region.
AGM was held to take stock on the Co - operative Society's operations in the year under review including annual report and financial statement, declaration of dividends and approval of innovative ideas for the way forward of the Society.
Msgr Anthony Boahen Kyereme, Chairman of the Board of Directors, GODCCOS, in his remarks said membership of Kenyasi society stood at 421 with 100 per cent active members.
He stressed that though the financial institution is not a bank, the Board of Directors (BoDs), members of staff and other stakeholders have done well to ensure the growth and sustainability of the co - operative society.
The Board Chairman implored members and shareholders of GODCCOS to take their time to do vivid inquiry on the operations and programmes of the Credit Union adding that let us all own GODCCOS.
Msgr Boahen Kyereme eulogized the commitment and hard work of the staff towards the development and progress of the co - operative society saying that let us all spread the good news of GODCCOS to the world.
"Our members of staff are professionals, full of integrity, respectful, well disciplined and industrious. Be rest assured that your money deposited with GODCCOS is safe and secured" he emphasised.
The Ahafo Regional Director, Department of Co - operatives, Osahene Amankwah, entreated the Board and management of GODCCOS to organise training workshops on the activities and programmes of the society for its members.
"Members will understand terms namely co - operative, income and expenditure, deficit and surplus, dividends, reserves, share position and others in order to be in tune with the financial institution" he stated.
Mr Amankwah admonished BoDs and management of the Co - operative to institute award scheme for best performing staff, shareholder, saver, best loan payer among other stakeholders to ensure effective competition and productivity.
The Regional Director expressed gratitude to the BoDs, management and staff, shareholders, regulatory agencies, the Catholic church among other stakeholder institutions for their immense contribution to the growth of the institution.
A member of GODCCOS - Kenyasi, John Kyereme, on behalf of his colleagues, enumerated the numerous benefits derived from the credit union including business startups financing, low interest rate on loans, paid dividend, safety of deposited money guaranteed.
