The District Chief Executive Officer (DCE), Asutifi North, Anthony Adjei Mensah, has said that tree planting has become part and parcel of Ghana including the enclave and that everybody must get involved for the full preservation of the environment.

Mr Mensah saud It is the sole aim of President Nana Akufo - Addo to established great plan to promote cleanliness and environmental sustainability in order to improve climate conditions for the overall benefit of posterity.

He indicated these on Friday June 7, 2023 at this year's Green Ghana Day (GGD) observation in the district at the Kenyasi Police Training School in the Ahafo Region.

A total of 900,000 different species of trees seedlings including thick, acacia, Nim, Mahogany, coconut and orange among others were planted across the six Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) in the Ahafo region.

The seedlings were planted under the supervision of the officers of the Forest Commission in schools, farmlands, church premises, households, public places, offices and along water bodies in the district.

The tree planting exercise had earlier, in the previous years, been observed at the Kenyasi Government Hospital (KGH), Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Senior High School (SHS) saying that it will be replicated in other institutions next year.

He called for an effective monitoring and nurturing of the trees planted to ensure value for money and time stressing that everyone must own and take good care of what he or she has planted.

The DCE indicated that when you plant a tree, you have planted life and it pleases God the creator indicating that good service to mankind is a service to God noting that when the last tree dies, the last man also dies.

He expressed appreciation to the management and staff of the Kenyasi Police Training School, Forestry Commission, the various security apparatuses in the district and other stakeholder institutions for contributing their quota to the success of the GGD.

The Commanding Officer, Kenyasi Police Training School, Chief Superintendent of Police (C/S) Omari, pledged the support of the institution to nurture the seedlings planted to become fully grown trees in order to fulfill purpose and target of the exercise.

He noted that everyone must show love to nature because of its beauty, serenity, refreshing air it produces, provision of shades, wind break, fight against erosion, food production and green environment it offers.

C/S Omari admonished that the country's forest reserves and water bodies which house herbs, fauna, different species of trees, rocks, wildlife and other historical mountains and shrines must be protected for the socio - economic development of Ghana.
