DIRECTOR - GENERAL OF NADMO TOURS DISTRICTS AFFECTED BY SPILLAGE OF AKOSOMBO DAM, PRESENTS RELIEF ITEMS
Hon Eric Nana Agyemang - Prempeh, the Director - General, National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), on Tuesday 11th October, 2023 visited communities affected by flooding due to the spillage of the Akosombo Dam by the Volta River Authority(VRA).
A total of nine (9) districts in the Volta region of Ghana have been affected by the floods.
Spillage of the Akosombo dam was done by the VRA to do away with excess water in the power - generation dam, anything the need arises.
The Director - General joined the evacuation of victims as well as the inspection of safe havens for the affected persons in all the districts.
Nana Agyemang - Prempeh also presented relief items from VRA and NADMO to the victims in the affected Districts.
He was accompanied by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VRA (Services), Mr Ben Arthur, and two Deputy Director - Generals of NADMO, Mr Abu Ramadan and Mr Seji Saji.
Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) and NADMO Directors from the affected districts in the Volta region also joined the visiting team.
In North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, also join the team.
