Dr Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano South Constituency in the Ahafo region, has implored residents to avoid insults, violence and defamation in the runup to December 2024 election.
According to him, insults begets violence and later leads to destruction of lives and properties thereby impeding infrastructure and youth centred development programmes being implemented by government.
Dr Yeboah, who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, admonished radio and television texters, phone - in patrons, social media platforms writers and other party followers to campaign decently to ensure decorum in the political landscape.
At the Bechem Community Institutional Gala and Blood Donation Exercise held on August 5, 2024 stressed that a violence free elections helps to sustain the country's gains in economic development and consolidating Ghana's reputation in democracy.
The Gala and blood donation exercise was participated by eight esteemed institutions gathered at the St Joseph's College of Education in Bechem, united in their commitment to community service.
Tano South Municipal Assembly, St Joseph's College of Education, Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School, Bechem Government Hospital, Ghana Police Service and COCOBOD were the participating teams.
The rest are the Ghana National Fire Service merged with National Health Insurance Scheme and National Ambulance Service as one team and the Media.
Dr Yeboah Sekyere donated a total of GH¢8,000 to the eight participating teams, GH¢1,000 to the blood donation exercise organizers and ¢2,000 to the gala organizers.
The event culminated in a thrilling conclusion with COCOBOD emerging as the champion of the Bechem Institutional Gala.
