Kenyasi St Peters Parish Golden Jubilee Celebration : Rev Fr Samuel Osei Kuffour Eulogizes The Dedication Of Earliest Priests, Lay Faithful

Fifty years ago, the parish was created, thanks to the vision and dynamic leadership of the late Most Rev James Kwadwo Owusu, the then Catholic Bishop of Sunyani Diocese.

It was nurtured by the great gifts of God to the church, in the person of Most Rev Peter Kwaku Atuahene, Catholic Bishop of Goaso Diocese and in the care of SMA Missionaries; Rev Frs Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, 1st Diocesan Priest and John Kwame Nkrumah.

Others are Rev Fr Emmanuel Gyansah Tabi, Dominic Asuahene, Paul Nimo Boampong, Theophilus Akyeampong Pepra, Anthony Margo Dwomo, Peter Nimo, George Obeng Yeboah Asuamah, Christopher Kwarkye, Felix Twumasi and Nicolas Afriyie.

Through the hard work of these gallant Men of God and the lay faithful, St Peters Parish has birthed five parishes namely Hwediem Holy Spirit, Nkaseim Blessed Sacrament and St Joseph Parishes in Acherensua, Wamahinso and Ntotroso.

I have been intrigued by the commitment encountered while perusing the history of the parish. I cannot stop thanking God for the earliest church fathers and mothers, and their dedication to the work of God, notwithstanding their busy schedules.

In celebrating the present, we must not lose focus of our beginnings but learn from that to praise God for all good He is doing for us. As we celebrate the present, let us renew our love for the kingdom of God. Let us try, to the best of our ability, to expand this kingdom as we pilgrim with Christ.

For the future, we know that the Providence of God is with us and He will not disappoint us. We will rather have to be docile to His will and always ask whether what we are doing is helping us to build together.

The theme for the Golden Jubilee celebration is very apt, "The Lord has done great things for us; and we are glad" (Psalm 126:3).

It accentuates the very importance of our celebration and leads us to express our deepest gratitude to Almighty God for his faithfulness and goodness unto us as a Parish.

I deem it a great honour and privilege to be part of such a blessed Catholic community to mark such unique epoch in the history of the faith journey. I, in Union with you all, will forever be thankful to God for His manifold blessings and sustenance through thick and thin till this memorable moment.

I congratulate and appreciate all the members of the parish, home and abroad, old, present and new, for the immense and magnanimous contributions you have made at different times and means to sustain the Parish till now.

It is my fervent prayer that God through unfailing support of the Holy Spirit, your faith and actions in Christ would continue to increase and bear more lasting fruits.

Keep the fires of the faith burning brightly for all. May this Golden Jubilee help us radiate the love of Christ to all.

God bless St Peters Parish, bless the Catholic Diocese of Goaso and also bless the universal Church.
