At The Film Craft Expo 2024 : Industry Players Discussed Emerging Trends, Technological Advancements In Shaping The Sector

The Film Craft Expo (FCE) 2024, a milestone achievement for the Global Film Industry, was held from September 27 to 29 at the National Theatre of Ghana titled, "emerging trends and technological advancements shaping the industry".

 It brought together the finest talents, creative minds, and innovators in the film industry featuring Dr Jim Fara Awindor, Rabby Blay, Ramesh Jai, and Alex King Nartey who contributed immensely with unmatched skills and knowledge for industry growth.

The first edition of the FCE was successfully launched last year, positioning itself as a unique event in the global filmmaking landscape.

 Looking ahead, Ambassador Prince Kojo Hilton, the Founder and President of Film Craft Expo, said the film expo aims to expand its scope beyond Africa. Plans are underway to replicate the event in countries including Canada.

 Mr Kojo - Hilton, a celebrated art director, entrepreneur and a creative mind, stressed that his outfit remains committed to growing the platform, in the years ahead, welcoming international partners, and transforming the FCE into a memorable event on the global film calendar.

 He expressed gratitude to the National Theatre of Ghana for their excellent collaboration, and the National Film Authority for their massive endorsement unwavering in making the 2024 film craft expo a reality.

The Film Craft Expo featured fascinating activities namely networking and After party, masterclass, interactive installation, panel discussion, collaborative projects, and roundtable discussion.

 Others included technology showcase, practical demonstration, behind the scenes scenery, pitching sessions, workshops and exhibitions.

 Background

The Film Craft Expo (FCE) is a global platform unveiling the art, science, and business of filmmaking, a revolutionary event that goes beyond the glitz and glamour of traditional film festivals.

While film festivals showcase finished films, the FCE delves deep into the intricate processes behind the scenes, focusing on the craftsmanship that brings cinematic vision to life.

It highlighted the technical, creative and business aspects that drive the world of filmmaking and theatre production.

The event uniquely serves as an educational hub for professionals, providing hands - on workshops, master classes, panel discussions, and exhibitions that explore every elements from pre - production to post production.

 Vision

 The FCE envisions an empowered global film community where African and International filmmakers can interact, learn and exchange valuable knowledge and resources.

 Mission

It is the mission of the event to offer a platform that highlights the art and science of filmmaking and theatre, fostering innovations and collaboration while providing participation with the tools to enhance the skills and understand the business side of the industry.

With this in mind, we are excited to collaborate with institutions and industries across the world to solidify the film craft expo as a globally recognized, accredited event.

 A Citation of Honour was Presented to George Bosompim, on behalf of the Film Craft Expo committee, for his unwavering support and belief in team's initiative.

 "As the first person to hear our vision, your endorsement has been invaluable. Your encouragement inspires us to create a vibrant platform for cinematic and theatrical excellence in Africa" the citation read.

"Thank you for championing our cause and helping us make a meaningful impact in the industry" it added.

The expo featured an enlightening session on film sound, spearheaded by the skilled James Adofo, a renowned Ghanaian Film Sound Recordist, that left attendees both captivated and informed.

The practical demonstrations provided a hands - on experience that delved into the intricacies of sound design, recording, and mixing, illustrating their vital role in cinematic storytelling.

Adofo’s session not only showcased the latest technologies and techniques in sound production but also offered valuable insights into how sound can elevate a film's narrative and emotional impact.

The demonstrations allowed participants to explore the creative and technical aspects of sound, gaining a deeper understanding of its significance in the filmmaking process.
