Mr Patrick Banor, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi North Constituency, on Thursday donated food items to four Senior High Schools (SHS) in the area to supplement government's free meals under the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy.
The schools, including Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Girls' SHS in Kenyasi, Gyamfi Kumanini Secondary and Technical (GYAKSTECH) in Wahahiniso, Twereku Ampem SHS in Ntotroso and Gyedu Technical Institute (GTI) in Gyedu received bags of rice and boxes of cooking oil.
He had earlier visited and donated food items to the inmates of Kenyasi Prisons Settlement Camp as his support to adding up to government's provision.
The Lawmaker enumerated his contribution to the development of the various SHSs to the students and teachers of the area saying that I have provided furniture, cadets uniform and classroom blocks to OLA SHS.
He added that "Headmistress bungalow and administration block are progressing steadily. I will commission them soon".
Mr Banor indicated that though Twereku Ampem SHS is newly established, he has donated 100 bags of cement to support projects of the school saying that together with my Regional Minister, we have lobbied boys dormitory for them.
He expressed gratitude to the Omanhene of Ntotroso Traditional Council (NTC) for joining hands with him towards the establishment of the SHS in the community emphasising that Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum, the Minister of Education did not hesitate to approve the school.
The MP told students of GYAKSTECH that in his four years spent in Parliament, he has provided the school with chairs and street bulbs noting that 40 pieces of cadet uniforms are ready for presentation while teachers bungalow is under construction.
Mr Banor said he has donated trips of sand for blocks moulding, cement and plywood to support the construction of infirmary at the Kenyasi Prisons, disinfected the camp against bedbugs and provided plumbing materials for modern washrooms.
The inmates of the camp thanked the MP for supporting their wellbeing under his tenure soliciting the support of individuals, groups and other stakeholder institutions to supply them with assorted drugs at the camp's sick bay.
Mr Banor implored the inmates to adhere to every laid down protocols at the camp until their jail terms. elapsed telling them that "you are here today but you can be at a highly respected place in the future. Don't be discouraged in your current situation".
The MP entreated the students in the constituency to stick to their books, strictly observe all school rules and regulations, be respectful, humble and obedient to their teachers and parents in order to become responsible adults in the future.
Mr Patrick Banor hailed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the introduction of the Free Senior High School Programme (FSHS) to eliminate financial stress from parents and guidance thereby overwhelmingly increasing enrollment and improving the literacy rate of Ghanaians.
He urged students and parents in the country to stand behind President Akufo - Addo and his government by voting for Dr Bawumia as President and Patrick Banor as MP in order to sustain the FSHS programme.
"I have served the constituency diligently and faithfully in just four years as an MP. Give me another term in Parliament to continue to improve the living standards of my people" the MP canvassed.
Mr Gabriel Nyarko, the Principal of Gyedu Technical Institute, on behalf of the various SHSs thanked Mr Patrick Banor for supporting the activities of educational institutions in the area in kind and cash saying that posterity will forever remember your good work.
The Second - In Command at the Kenyasi Prisons Settlement Camp, Superintendent Elvis Ahadzi, on behalf of the Ghana Prisons Service, commended the Asutifi North MP for his immense contribution to the camp noting that "a friend in need is a friend indeed".
