BABA AMANDO WRITES : A HERO TURNS COWARD - THE ALAN CASE

Mr Alan Kyerematen has disappointed not just the Party but all those who reposed their trust and confidence in him, upon all what the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had done for him and his followers, this is how he repays us. 

The only Party person who had a position preserved and protected for him even before we won elections is you, Mr Alan. 

Your followers since 2017 have occupied positions in critical public offices including but not limited to the GES, FREE SHS secretariat, NHIA, GEA , School Feeding programme, Ministerial portfolios, among others. 

So how did the Party molest your people?. 

A man who was given all the opportunities to contest in order to lead this great Party upon failing to do so due to wrong messaging, has arrogantly chosen to destroy the Party that gave him the fame, the respect and honor he opulently boasts of today. 

we are NPP and we would not capitulate to this distraction. We have an Election to win and so we would do our best to protect the tradition of our forebears. 

It is a shame on him and an indictment upon his entire generation. The Party must cut him lose and focus to connecting with the signal because we have an election to win in 2024, and we will Inshaa Allah.

Let me quickly associate myself with what the First Chairman of the NPP, B.J Da Rocha rightly said about Mr Alan Kyeremanteng when he took his first decision to break away from the party in 2008, which the Party set up a committee led by the venerable Chairman to resolve, I quote,

“Thirdly, the concluding part of Mr, Alan Kyerematen’s statement is pregnant with meanings. 

I quote it "we must also not lose sight of the fact that national interest is superior to the interest of any single party."

" In this regard, l will soon give a firm indication about the role that I expect to play on the political landscape in the country"

"This, I believe, will bring hope and confidence to all Ghanaians irrespective of the political or religious affiliation or ethnic background". 

The clear import of this passage is that Mr. Kyerematen has in mind, a national interest superior to the interest of the NPP. 

It is also an unequivocal declaration that he has thought for himself a future role in politics outside the NPP, It’s obvious that he has no deep -rooted commitment or loyalty to the NPP ”.

In light of this statement, it is my considered view that it will not be in the best interest of the NPP to receive Mr. Alan Kyerematen back into the party's fold .

He will become a disruptive factor in the party, stumbling block, a loose cannon. The party has an elections to win, we should concentrate our efforts on the task ahead and let him go his way in peace".

Today, he, Mr Kyerematen makes the same statement ostensibly to tell us that, he had never had the interest of the NPP at heart and true to this, he has announced to go solo. 

He talks about the youth and yet he is not a youth. If there’s anyone who is youthful then it shouldn’t be him. He had a million opportunities and served under the banner of the NPP yet, he is out to destroy the very Party that gave him everything by the grace of God.

To the NPP, no true Party person would follow such a an inconsiderate politician. Our Party Constitution is clear on that.

Anyone who stands as an independent candidate or supports any candidate when the Party has fielded a candidate has automatically forfeited his Membership. 

Hence, if Mr Kyeremateng goes ahead with his announcement to run as an independent candidate, he has automatically forfeited his Membership with anyone who goes with him.

Even if he changes his mind, disciplinary sanctions could be meted out against him since he has failed to uphold the unity and good name of the Party as enjoined upon us by the Constitution of the Party.
