POEM : DON’T AUCTION YOUR LOVE, BY SAM AKOTO DANSO, IS A MUST READ PIECE
Sam Akoto Danso

The intrinsic value of love Is more than many bars Of gold in a vault; So don’t underestimate What being loved Can be to the physic, And psychology of a person. Love indeed is the prelim To ecstasy; If you’re able to fathom The possible positive effects Of love on the brain, Then, you’re a prophet But not a puppet.

Naturally human beings And animals cuddle Their love ones whilst Birds preen as a show of love. See how a broken heart repairs When a bouquet of flowers Is given, or how We wail uncontrollably, When a love one is lost. Love indeed is the heart So don’t auction your love; Never sell your heart, For to have a functional Heart is life. I’ve seen many That became destitute And even prostitutes After auctioning their love.

Many with millions Have no peace and place Having lost their love. If you don’t know How love is to any being, then, Relocate to Robinson Crusoe’s Inland and see how love pays: Or you need To read Thomas Hardy’s Mayor of Casterbridge To know the repercussions Of auctioning one’s love. Don’t sell your love, Else, you’ll auction your fortunes. Love is expensive; Don’t let it be elusive; Else, you’ll become convulsive.

Never underrate The love you have; Let it be like diamonds; Always fill it with aviation fuel For it to propel You onto cloud nine. Even on mountain tops; Deep in valleys; On roads and alleys; In homes and offices, As well as markets, Look for love; Showcase your lover; Kiss your sweetheart; Remember to hold And keep your soulmate. Never, ever auction your love, For love is sweet And love is great.
