Potential mine in Ahafo : Exploration for gold to commence in Asunafo South

An exploration for gold at the Asikaso enclave of Kukuom in the Asunafo South district of the Ahafo region is expected to begin soon, Mr George Yaw Boakye, the Regional Minister, has announced.

 He led a team of experts to the Oti Frimpong Palace in Kukuom over the weekend to inform the Paramount chief of Kukuom Traditional Council (KTC), Osahene Kwaku Atarkyi II.

Mr Yaw Ampofo Adusei, Director of DANAMPCO Company limited, a partner of one of the exploration companies noted that the area has a potential of discovering gold in commercial quantities thus the need for the timely exercise. 

He highlighted the numerous direct and indirect job opportunities that will be created for the youth in the operational area should the exploration becomes successful.

 Mr assured the chiefs and people of the Ahafo region that the various companies engaging in the upcoming exploration parties would resort to international best practices to ensure health and safety.

The paramount chief expressed appreciation to the regional Minister, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Frank Aduse Poku, and other stakeholders for collaborating with the two companies for the exercise. 

Osahene Atarkyi II was optimistic that the purpose of the project would be achieved for the total transformation of the area saying that "together we can make Ahafo region a very comfortable habitat". 

He pledged the support of the traditional council and residents of the district towards the impending exploration exercise imploring that all stakeholders must join hands to ensure the success of the project. 

Frank Aduse Poku charged the youth to support the exercise since it was the key to creating jobs and an opportunity to cause total transformation in the lives of the people in the Asunafo South constituency. 

DANAMPCO company limited is partnering with CHONGYUAN HUIJIN (GHANA) LIMITED to conduct a two (2) years exploration exercise in search for gold in commercial quantities at the Asikaso enclave of Kukuom.
