THE VERY REV KWAKU EFFAH HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BISHOP - ELECT FOR SUNYANI DIOCESE.

The Very Rev Kwaku Effah has been confirmed as the Methodist Bishop - elect for the Sunyani Diocese.

The confirmation came at a one -day Emergency Conference of the Church held at the St Luke Cathedral in Akyem Oda on Saturday, August 19, 2023. 

The meeting, which allowed some members of Conference to participate in decision - making virtually, saw all delegates vote in favour of the nominee.

Very Rev Effah, who has been the Assistant Synod Secretary of the Sunyani Diocese of the church since 2018, polled 64 votes representing 54.70% in an election.

The election was permitted by the March 2023 General Purposes Council (GPC) meeting after the demise of the Bishop - elect for the Sunyani Diocese, the late Very Rev Seth Afful Sackey earlier in the year.

Standing Order (S . O) 32 : 6 of the Methodist Constitution requires that the Minister nominated by a Diocese for the office of Bishop “shall be appointed by Conference as Bishop.
