Africa Is Rising : Nigeria makes strides in locally producing ammunition and other military equipment.

The newly signed Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Act, endorsed by President Bola Tinubu, has positioned Nigeria as a key player in the production of military hardware for the Armed Forces and the wider West African region.

The House of Representatives Committee on Defense, during a recent oversight visit to Kaduna, lauded the corporation’s strides in locally producing ammunition and other military equipment.

It stated that DICON's progress strengthens the nation’s defense capabilities and reduces reliance on foreign suppliers.

The Chairman of the committee, Babajimi Benson, reportedly emphasized that the ability to manufacture defense equipment domestically is crucial for Nigeria’s sovereignty and regional influence.

He further called on DICON to prioritize innovation and research, ensuring that its military products meet international standards.
