Community Development : Residents of Nkoranza South Thank Harriet Kyeremateng Oppong For Fixing Water Challenge In Nyamebekyere Community

Nyamebekyere is a rural area that lies on the Nkoranza Ejura Highway. It is dominated by settlers who are farmers. Access to potable water is problematic to these dwellers.

They have to walk kilometres to the Pru river for water for their daily house chores. The only mechanised bore hole that provided them water has not been functioning for a number of years.

Harriet Kyeremanteng Oppong, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate has come to the aid of the people of Nyamebekyere by fixing their mechanised bore hole.

At a brief ceremony to hand over the repaired mechanised borehole to the community, the odikro, Assembly member of the area, unit committee and the community expressed their profound gratitude to Mad. Harriet.

A Unit Committee Chairman told the gathering that "Madam Harriet, on my own behalf, odikro and the entire community, we say we are grateful"

"Getting access to potable water has been a major challenge to us for the past 3 or more years"

Our children have to carry pots and containers to the pru river for 3 or more times in the morning before they prepare for school. This is tedious and a contributing factor to absenteeism to our school.

Children fetching water from the stream many times before preparing for school is quite tedious. Sometimes you meet a child during school hours and the person's reason for not being in school is he or she was late or tired for school after the person had finished getting water from the river.

Words cannot express how much we appreciate fixing this water problem for us. At this dry season, you go to the Pru river and it's full of cattle. We have no option than to share our drinking water with cattle.

Other residents expressed their excitement to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate (PC). Mad Harriet Kyeremateng revealed to them plans are far advanced to fixing their network problem through GIFEC.

Again, she will facilite for the community to have JHS of their own. Children after primary 6 will have to either go to Ayerede or pruso for JHS. Bonsu, Dandwa, Asempanaye, Dimango and Dasagwa are communities that have also benefited from Harriet's operation get access to potable water projec

A number of such projects are in the pipeline and communities without pipe or mechanised bore hole will benefit.
