Potential Tourist Attraction Sites Development : Bono East Regional Minister Woos Investors To Area

 The Bono East region has numerous tourism potentials which could be developed to become a tourist attraction sites, Kwesi Adu Gyan, the Regional Minister has stated, wooing investors to the area.

According to him, aside the Kintampo Waterfalls which is the only operational tourist attraction site, other numerous undeveloped sites including the Fiamah Monkey Sanctuary, Tanoboase Rock Formations, the Sacred Water pot, Oforikrom Sacred Rocks and Caves, the 'Center of Ghana' point in Kintampo need a facelift. 

The Minister indicated that with the influx of developers to the region to add value to its potential tourist attraction sites, a lot of direct and indirect employment opportunities would be created to enhance the local economy.

 Mr Adu Gyan, delivering an address on Friday 20th September, 2024 at the Regional Tourism Awards Night in Techiman on the theme,"celebrating innovation and recognizing excellence in Ghana's Tourism Sector", said tourism is a driver of the economy.

The awards aimed at celebrating and recognizing individual organizations for demonstrating excellence, innovation in the sector, encouraging stronger rebound of Tourism in Ghana, building relationships between the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and its stakeholders. 

He implored the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to routinely organize training workshops for operators of the sector in order to be abreast with the changing trends in the industry to be inline with global competition.

 The Minister stressed that the world is changing towards technology and implored tourism practitioners introduce digitization into their daily duties adding this can be a driving force to push businesses into new heights.

 "Through digitization, we can enhance visitor experiences making it more engaging, accessible and sustainable as we use it to gain competitive advantage. This will generate revenue to support Ghana's economy" he said.

Mr Adu Gyan admonished the various stakeholders in the sector to exhibit collaboration, maintain services standards at all times and show mutual respect in order to make impact in the Tourism and hospitality industry in the Bono East region.

 The Minister congratulated the various winners of the awards for exhibition of excellence and professionalism and charged other stakeholders to do more to receive recognition in the future affirming that "together, we can make Bono East region the best tourist attraction destination".

 Special awards were presented to 2 Star Hotel of the year, 1 Star Hotel of the year, Budget Hotel of the year, Restaurant Grade 2, Traditional Caterer (Chop Bar), Drinking Spot, and Night Club / Pub of the year.

The rest are the Site Guide of the year, Tour Guide, Visitor Attraction, Tourism Oriented Media, Digital Icon of the year, Best Event Organiser and Corporate Institution of the year.

 Winners of the awards included Villakam Hotel, Peter and Rose Hotel, Micas Executive Lodge, Kintampo Rest Stop, Atinka Peace Corner (Barima Nkwan), Acapulco Winery and City Cottage Lodge.

 The rest are Justice Boakye, Kintampo Waterfalls, Ghana Television (GTV), Samuel Ayammah, Kurubi Benkadi Festival and the Bono East Regional Office of the Forestry Commission.

 Other honorary awards were conferred on Jemima Grace Kodua Antwi Hotel, Techiman Queen Mothers Association, Nana Effah Guakro IV, Obrempong Nana Amponsah - Teng - Kakabo II.

 The awards ceremony was attended by Heads of Departments and Agencies, traditional and religious leaders, Journalists, Staff of GTA, Bono East Regional Co - Ordinating Council, section of the public among other dignitaries.
