People’s Congress (APC), Dr Hassan Ayariga, and wife, Anita were among prominent dignitaries who graced the second coronation anniversary celebration of the Olu of Warri Kingdom, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III at the Olu Palace, Warri, Delta
State in Nigeria.
Dignitaries at the anniversary include Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Dr. Sunny Ofehe, Netherlands based former Delta State governorship candidate of the Young
Progressive Party (YPP).
Others were Environmental
rights Activist who led a high -powered delegations including Mr Dirk Bos,The Netherlands, Prof Ernest Franzek (Germany), Mr. Niels Ducaat (The Netherlands), Mr. Jacobus Van Wissen (The
Netherlands).
The rest were Dr. Newton Jibunoh (CEO Nelson Mandela Park), Mr. Tola Osunkiyesi (MD Nelson Mandela Park), Mr Joe Ogbodu
(Delegation, Head of Media), Dr Tega Ekpamaku (CEO Collective Power from The Netherlands).
The United Nations
Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Matthias Schmale, led a team for the UN office, Abuja, delegations from the United Kingdom (UK), Canada and Uganda among others also honoured the colourful event.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, said Delta State can become an investment destination of the world with everyone in Delta state making commitment to the policy thrust of the state government.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, called on all residents of Delta state to be committed to making the state a destination for investors.
He said, “It gives me great pleasure, to be here to celebrate a King
who is a great image maker, a great marketer of Warri Kingdom selling Delta State to the world.
“Your Majesty, we are aware of your success stories in breaking new grounds in bilateral relationships with countries"
"This is highly commendable as it is in line with our administration’s commitment to making Delta State the investment destination of the world" he noted.
The Governor said It is remarkable that within your two years on the exalted throne of your forefathers that the Federal Government, has also, recognized your achievements and conferred on you, the prestigious award of the Commander of the Federal Republic.
“As you mark this great anniversary, may God continue to grant you the means to ensure good, purposeful leadership and may your
people continue to support you to ensure that your good intentions yield desired results" Sir Monday Onyeme added.
He told the gathering that it is the right thing to do to support our traditional rulers because we are aware of the roles that you play in ensuring peaceful Kingdoms.
Sir Monday Onyeme added that if your kingdoms are peaceful, our state will be peaceful and our programmes will be delivered successfully to the benefits of all residents of Delta and humanity.
Your Majesty, he indicated, it is on this note that, I on behalf of the government and the good people of Delta State, say, congratulations and happy coronation anniversary.
In his speech, the revered king, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, called on sons and daughters of Iwere Nation to join hands in building the Warri Kingdom.
He said it is easier to destroy, tear and pull down than to build, but “we as Iwere people must build our communities, our land and area together".
In addition to conferment of chieftaincy titles to outstanding individuals in the kingdom, His Majesty said, exceptional excellence in various fields of work will be celebrated in the palace.
“The palace will be open to receive anyone who has excelled in various fields and will be made pioneers in that area” he emphasised.
The Monarch, celebrated an Iwere son, Master Eworitsewami Norbert who scored 9As in WAEC and 344 in JAMB.
The Olu of Warri disclosed that the Iwere Master plan was in progress and one of the vital components of the Master Plan is the Petroleum Industry Act PIA, which will be used to develop oil producing areas as well as link the area that do not have oil.
“Under our watch, we will not encourage taking resources from one place to another but all Iwere land must be linked together, we must be our brothers keeper" he stated.
The Monarch said they have authorized a transparent process to manage PIA saying that we will be coming to your communities to engage you on how we can get the best for Iwere people.
