GHANA FIRST COALITION INAUGURATES NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Ghana First Coalition (GFC), a Non - Partisan Civil Society Organisation (CSO), on Sunday, 20th August, 2023 inaugurated its National Executive Committee (NEC) at New Nation School, Accra.
The GFC has Bishop Dr Samuel Noi Mensah, Founder and Chairman, Mr Jacob Osei Yeboah, Co - Founder, Mr. Yaw Julius Badu, Board Member & Secretary, and Dr John Kpikpi, as Board Member
GFC is not a political party but the credible alternative to political parties, which aims to help create the best Ghana that delivers prosperity for every Ghanaians, now and in the future.
It is characterized by their collective involvement in the public sphere as citizens to express interest, exchange information and ideas, and work toward mutual goals. It shall make demands on the State and hold government officials accountable.
The organization is the realm of organized socio - political life that is voluntary, self - generating, self -supporting, autonomous from the State and bound by shared rules of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and the GFC constitution crafted and endorsed on 17t" day of August, 2020.
Mr Jacob Osei Yeboah (JOY), Co - Founder of GFC in a presentation indicated that GFC is an intermediary institution between the private sector and the State.
The Co - Founder stated that GFC is offering refuge for individual and businesses shut out of their rights due to not being members of any given political parties, and enhancing the bargaining power of interest groups and providing inclusive mechanism for all Citizens.
He said the GFC is an amalgamation of several CSOs, political associations and like - minded Ghanaians including traditional leaders, students, educators, market women, farmers, journalists, laborers, nurses, doctors, faith - based communities, lawyers, workers unions and
professional associations.
Mr Osei Yeboah noted that these groups from all walks of life has come together to form a special
purpose vehicle to fight a common agenda. GFC unlike political parties does not discriminate
against traditional authorities.
"The Governing Board is the supreme organ and highest
decision making body. The board Chairman is the Supreme leader" the Co - Founder emphasised.
He added that membership comprises of GFC Founders, Founding Associate member organizations, NEC Chairman, GFC’ Presidential Candidate and Vice Presidential candidate, GFC NEC secretary as ex - officio member without vote .
"The Board is responsible for setting a policy framework and strategy to achieve the goals and objectives of GFC, oversee the NEC and all organs of the GFC to
ensure compliance with stated goals and policy" Mr Osei Yeboah noted.
The Co - Founder said the GFC Board is responsible for the fiduciary responsibility of the
National Executive Committee to ensure compliance with the laws of Ghana and anywhere else that it operates.
Mr Osei Yeboah mentioned that GFC hopes to seek a mandate to support governance through both parliamentary and presidential elections. GFC would strategically support contests in each General Elections.
"Our aim is to reset Ghana’s governance accordance with the principles of inclusion, accountability, and equity with integrity. GFC plans to steer Ghana away from the path of one winner party 'take all' system to all-inclusive governance" he outlined.
The Co - Founder disclosed that NEC shall carry out its programmes in observance of the primary fiduciary responsibility of loyalty, care and respect to the Board’s policies and directions. NEC has a fiduciary responsibilities for the Regional and Constituency offices.
Mr Osei Yeboah indicated that candidates supported by GFC shall champion GFC’s goals and objectives Promote the reform agenda during and after general elections campaign.
Bishop Dr Samuel Noi Mensah, Founder and Chairman of GFD said the organisation will recruit from across the entire membership of GFC for NEC positions organizing GFC all the way down to polling stations in constituencies between now and Nov 2023
He charged the NEC officers to formulate strategy for prosecuting the 2024 election campaign, determine the cost to prosecute the agenda, plan and initiate fund -raising accordingly.
The Chairman further urged the NEC to recruit Regional Executive Committees or Coordinators Charge REC officers to do the same at constituency level Set up national and regional offices as
required.
Dr Noi Mensah assured that the NEC will also be responsible for all actions required in order to wrestle power from the duopoly of the incumbent NPP and opposition NDC.
"Developing detailed timeline for all the activities necessary for achieving the stated goals identifying suitable constituencies, GFC shall feature parliamentary candidates" he noted.
Bishop Noi Mensah was optimistic that Participating in activities to select a suitable Presidential Candidate between early December 2023 to late January 2024, delivering on all assignments deemed necessary to be executed as specified by the Board of Directors.
"political leaders in Ghana have no vision for the next five , 10, 20 years for the country. I am calling for one million voters who are dissatisfied with NPP - NDC duopoly to sign onto a reform charter" he bemoaned.
The Founder of GFC expressed opinion that, instead of the managers of our country sending the economy to IMF for healing, it is about time we rather send the managers of the country to a training centre for sound leadership roles.
