Ghana Tourism Authority Honours Asempa Dawuro Editor, Adu Gyamfi Odopa With The Digital Tourism Icon Of The Year Award

On Thursday September 19, 2024, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) conferred on Emmanuel Adu Gyamfi, the Editor for asempadawuro.com and Newspaper, "Digital Tourism Icon of the Year 2024" Award.

 Mr Adu Gyamfi, and his media was celebrated and recognized for demonstrating excellence, innovation in the sector, encouraging stronger rebound of Tourism in Ghana, building relationships between the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and its stakeholders.

 Specifically, he is honoured for extensive marketing and promotion of the numerous naturally endowed attraction sights and scenes in the Ahafo region of Ghana and beyond via mainstream media namely asempadawuro.com and Newspaper and social media spaces including Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Telegraph among others.

 Interesting attraction sites in Ahafo region include the famous Mim sacred Rock (Obour) and plantation, Asumura white - necked rock fowl conservation, the Bonsam Bepo (devil's hill) at Sankore, various shrines, sacred fishes with golden crowns in river Tano, forest reserves occupied with species of trees, herbs, and animals among others fascinating destinations.

The maiden Ahafo Regional Tourism Awards at Goaso, the Ahafo Regional capital, was headlined, "celebrating innovation and recognizing excellence in Ghana's Tourism Sector". 

Mr Adu Gyamfi expressed gratitude to God for the unending special grace and gifts bestowed on him adding that I thank my beautiful wife, Lydia Adu Gyamfi, family and friends, readers and clients of asempadawuro.com and newspaper for supporting his journalism career. 

The award winner thanked the GTA for recognising his works and pledged to do more in projection of Ghana in the global stage through tourism noting that everyone can shine wherever he or she is located without setbacks of race, completion, religious affiliation and cultural orientation among others.

 The Regional Director, Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Alfred Asumadu, in his remarks wooed individual and group developers locally and abroad to invest in the ecotourism and adventure sector of Ahafo region for a mutually shared benefit saying that "the doors of GTA is widely opened"

He reechoed the importance of stakeholder collaboration in the advancement of the tourism and hospitality industry in the area stressing that "together we can Ahafo region a Tourism hub". 

Mr Asumadu hailed the winers of the awards for exhibiting excellence and professionalism in the discharge of their roles in the marketing and promotion of Tourism in the Ahafo region, inspiring other players to do more to receive recognition in the future. 

Dr Kwesi Eyison, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pacific Tours, who was the Guest Speaker at the awards night said building stronger relationships for collaboration, innovation and excellent service delivery is key to Ghana's Tourism and hospitality industry recovery and growth. 

According to him, innovation is the heartbeat of any thriving industry including the country's tourism and hospitality sector and that throughout history, the industry has adapted to global changes from digital transformation to sustainable tourism practices. 

Dr Eyison noted that while innovation drives the future, excellence in service delivery defines the present, setting the standard for exceptional service to ensure that visitors to Ghana leave with unforgettable memories.

 "through the luxury of our hotels, the professionalism of our tour operators, mouthwatering cuisines, evolving transport and car rentals, remarkable experiences offered in our restaurants, sights and scenes is what will set us apart on sustainable basis" he stressed.

 Other awards including two star hotel of the year, one star hotel of the year, budget hotel of the year, restaurant of the year - grade 2, and the restaurant of the year - grade 3 were presented.

The rest are the traditional caterer (chop Bar) of the year, and drinking Bar of the year, the Tourism oriented media of the year - online, and corporate organization of the year. 

Some winners of the awards included the Zeniel Oasis Hotel, Ahafo TV, Wooden Tower Restaurant and Bar, Alabama Hotel, Newmont Ahafo Mines and Eno Kobi's Lodge.

 Others were Anane Africa Guest House (Annex), One Time Ayana Hospitality, Cynthia Chop Bar, Smart City leisure pub, Quality House events, L'Amour restaurant and Josba hotel.

The awards event was attended by traditional authorities, religious leaders, Journalists, the various Heads of Departments and Agencies, staff of the GTA, stakeholders in the Tourism and hospitality sector, Ahafo Regional Co - ordinating Council and a section of the public.
