Oko Kolomashie during the pre -independence era, various ways and means were used to fight against British colonial rule.

A music and dance group called Kolomashie movement was formed which was headed by Nii Ardey Ankrah popularly known as Oko Kolomashie.

The Kolomashie movement in support of the Independence movement used dance and music with topical content to fight against colonial rule.

Kolomashie which means "Colonials Must Leave" is a genre of recreational music the origin of which is amongst the Ga people.

Like other recreational forms of music, Kolomashie has no institutional association.

To a certain extent the independence of Kolomashie is reflected in the song texts, which are often topical in content with drumming and dancing.

Oko Kolomashie and his movement have contributed immensely to the "political independence" of Ghana and must be recognized as such.

The struggle and fight continue against neocolonialism and mental slavery.
