The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi North Constituency in the Ahafo region, Mr Patrick Banor has enrolled a total of 3,000 persons in the area onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

He had earlier registered a total of 2,500 constituents in Gambia, Kenyasi No 1, Ntotroso, Goamu, and Kenyasi No 2 zones with the NHIS to ensure financial affordability and accessibility of healthcare of residents.

The enrollment exercise included the registration of new members and renewal of membership, and other associated benefits namely the checking of validity status, linkage of NHIS cards to Ghana card and digital registration platforms of the scheme.

 Mr Patrick Banor in an interview with Journalists at the various mobile registration centers in Kenyasi No 1 and Kenyasi No 2 on Tuesday August 6, 2024 said it was his vision to ensure a 100 per cent subscription of the scheme in the constituency.

The MP stated that residents of Asutifi North constituency entrusted him with their votes over the past seven years to deliver results - oriented policies and programmes aimed at enhancing socio - economic development.

He reiterated that the NHIS is a social intervention programme introduced by Ghana government in 2003 to provide financial access to quality healthcare for all residents in Ghana and persons who are on a visit to the country.

 Mr Patrick Banor commended the unmatched achievement of the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the past seven years stressing that we have accounted for the resources entrusted on us soliciting that give NPP another term to sustain the gains in development, and to do more.

 "as your humble servant, I've performed satisfactorily for the past seven years as MP for Asutifi North. I am still doing milestone projects and programmes. I will relentless do more in my third term in Parliament" he said.

Mr Joseph Sarkodie, the Asutifi North and South Districts Manager, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), lauded the initiative of the MP for ensuring a resounding health of residents in the enclave saying that posterity will be grateful to you.

 He entreated individuals, groups and other stakeholder institutions in the Ahafo region to emulate the kind gesture of Mr Patrick Banor of seeking a robust wellbeing of his constituents stressing that health is wealth.

The Manager emphasized that the NHIS has come to stay and that all and sundry must come together to sustain the policy which seeks to ensure affordable and accessible healthcare adding that we can achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030.

Mr Sarkodie indicated that the NHIS comes with numerous benefit package including Out - Patient Services (OPD) both General and Specialist, in - patient services, oral health services, eye care services, maternity care and emergencies.

"new inclusion in the benefits package includes childhood cancers care and family planning services. Healthcare for patients above 70 years and SSNIT contributes are free of charge" he noted.

 The Manager implored residents of the area to use the various digital platforms of the scheme namely MyNHIS App on Google Play and *929# to renew their membership and link their NHIS cards to Ghana card.

Obaapanyini Ama Amponsah, a beneficiary from Kenyasi No 2 hailed Mr Patrick Banor for his unprecedented social intervention policies initiated in the constituency in his tenure emphasizing "a good term deserves another".

 A hairdresser and beneficiary of the exercise from Kenyasi No 1, Mariama Gado eulogized the MP for the massive infrastructure development on education, health, water and sanitation, sports and recreation, youth employment among other sectors of the economy.
