A nine months old baby has died after his biological father bathed her with acid at Pomadze in the Winneba Municipality of the Central Region.
Her mother is also in critical condition and receiving treatment at the Korle - Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
Philomina Owusu, 29, the survivor has had constant dispute with his fiancée Enoch Mensah, 36 now at large and threatened to end the union.
The perpetrator however arrived from Takoradi where he resides and under the guise of going to settle the cost of rent for the mother and baby bathed them with acid.
The baby was confirmed dead at Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital hours after the incidence, with the mother receiving treatment at the same facility.
The survivor has also suffered severe burns with the fear of her going blind. For the purpose of further treatment, she has been transferred to the Korle - Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
Speaking to Journalists, sister of the survivor Portia Owusu prayed the Ghana Police Service to investigate the matter swiftly and have the perpetrator arrested and made to face prosecution.
She's also appealing to the general public and benevolent entities for financial support to cater for the medical treatment of the survivor.
