Nana Kwaku Bonsam, NDC accuse Deputy Local Government Minister of demolishing projects funded by opponent
Nana Kwaku Bonsam is an International Traditional Priest based in Ghana. He accuses Offinso North MP.

News Desk Report

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso North, Mr Collins Ntim, has been accused of unlawfully demolishing projects initiated by his political opponent in the area including market complex.

In a press statement released on Monday at Afrancho in the Ashanti region, signed by Comrade Nana Sarfo Ogyaba, a leading member of the NDC in Offinso North Constituency, said the actions of the MP can spark violence if not stopped.

The statement said on Sunday 31st December, 2023, which was also a market - day in the community, machines were seen demolishing the market complex while trading activities was seriously ongoing.

Nana Kwaku Bonsam, a very famous International Traditional Priest, it said, dedicated his time and money to build a market square for the people of Darso, which has been the only market for the community, a source of livelihood for hundreds of them.

It is very sad for a patriotic citizen to build a market for the people of Darso, Nana Sarfo noted, for an incumbent MP, who have occupied the seat for 20 years, to demolish it without any convincing reason and satisfying alternative measures in place.

The statement added that, Nana Kwaku Bonsam has initiated many social and economic interventions including payment of school fees, rehabilitation of classrooms, establishment of schools, among others for the people of Offinso North.

Nana Sarfo noted that as an Independent Parliamentary Candidate (PC) in Offinso North Constituency in the 2020 elections, Nana Kwaku Bonsam had his people at heart and was poised to contribute his quota to improve their standard of living.

"Its so disheartening to see daylight demolishing of Darso market as our brothers and sisters, mothers and people struggling to find their daily meal under the current economic hardship" the statement lamented.

Mr Collins Ntim, who is also a Deputy Local Government Minister, on December 1, 2023, though promised the people of Darso a new storey building for a market, they rejected his plan to destroy the old one before raising the new market complex.

It further indicated that though the Assembly Member for Darso Electoral Area urged the need to keep the old structure for temporal use until the new one is built, the demolishing was carried on.

Akumadan market was in bad shape for so many years and it took his opponent, Dr Fred Kyei to come to their aid and renovated it, this is a gross disrespect to the people of Darso and it's enclave.

"we are calling the MP to order by telling him that enough is enough and the people who voted him deserve enough respect"

"We the NDC in Offinso North are telling Mr A . C Ntim that, power is transient and nothing lasts forever" the statement stated.

Nana Sarfo stressed that the gross disrespect of Mr Collins Ntim will not be accepted in 2024, the day of reckoning and accountability, will eventually come.

It said, there are many uncompleted toilet facilities across the constituency which is a major issue Mr Ntim should tackle, rather than demolishing market complex that has been build by selfless individuals in broad day light.
