The Ahafo Regional Branch of the National Peace Council has admonishes radio and television stations Managers in the country to invite intelligent, well - mannered speakers on shows to avoid unprintable utterances, ahead of this year's general elections.

According to them, such individuals including in - studio guests, on - the - phone contributors, online panelists, and social networks viewers are serious threats to peace and stability of Ghana if not carefully controlled.

The Council further implored hosts, producers and directors of various shows especially political programmes, to strictly and carefully scrutinize comments of message texters, phone - callers in order to streamline the airwaves in the build up to elections.

It said though 2024 as an election year comes with tension, duty bearers, political power - seakers, and other stakeholders must exercise high level decorum to avoid bad sentiments.

 Most Reverend Peter Kwaku Atuahene, the Catholic Bishop of Goaso Diocese, who is the Regional chairman of NPC stated these in an interview with Journalists at Goaso, on ensuring peaceful and stability in Ahafo region and beyond.

 He disclosed that Ahafo in 2023 was relatively peaceful without any misunderstanding which interrupted the economic and social life of residents and institutions in the newly created region.

The Regional Chairman indicated that though there was stability, it does not mean things were smooth saying that the region witnessed few land and chieftaincy disputes, and other key administrative issues.

He Attributed last year's success story to unity and collaboration among individuals and institutions in the region namely the security apparatuses, religious leaders, traditional authorities, media organizations among others in the region.

Most Rev Kwaku Atuahene urged decision makers to thoroughly adjudicate all pending issues including Tepa - Brosankro border issue and come out with judgment soon, in order to ensure lasting peace and security in those areas.

 The Peace Council in Ahafo region entreated government to a lot of developmental projects especially fixing of deplorable road networks in the region including Goaso to Tepa highway, Kenyasi to Hwediem road, Kasapin to Bediako stretch among others.

" I can say people are expecting more infrastructure, social and economic development from government than they had. Politicians must do more to improve the living conditions of the people"

" this might be a contributing factor to the low voter turn out in the recently held local government elections" he stated.

Bishop Kwaku Atuahene expressed appreciation to Ahafo Regional Minister, Yaw Boakye and his Chief Director, the Catholic church, Church of Pentecost and other religious organizations, members of the Regional Peace Council for supporting the activities of the NPC in Ahafo.

The administrative region is located in the South - Western part of the then Brong - Ahafo of Ghana, with a total land size of 5,193 Kilometers square (2,005 sq miles).

 The population of Ahafo region is estimated to be 554, 668 making 49.8 males and 50.2 females respectively. Ahafo is part of the forest belt of Ghana.

 Its vegetation consist predominantly of deciduous forest, fertile soil, grassland, especially Savanna with clusters of drought resistant trees such baobab or acacias.
