Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in Tano North Municipal Assembly, Ahafo Region, joined the leadership of the Ghana National Fire Service, chiefs and people of Duayaw Nkwanta Traditional Council, for the commissioning of a new Fire Service Academy and Training School.

Following the commissioning of another training school in Wungu in the North East Region seven weeks ago, the latest commissioning makes it two (2), the number of Fire Service Academy and Training Schools the government has added to the only Fire Service Academy and Training School in the country since independence.

The Vice President noted that government has virtually fulfilled its promise to increase the number of Fire Service Academy and Training Schools in Ghana from one (1) to four (4), as the third training school we have built is ready for commissioning in the Eastern Region.

According to Dr Bawumia, this, coupled with our immense support to the Ghana National Fire Service, through the provision of modern fire - fighting equipment, including vehicles, modern fire engines, drones, rapid intervention vehicles, buses.

He said the NPP has done the expansion of personnel from 8000 we inherited in 2017, to the current 15,000. We have demonstrated our unwavering commitment to resourcing the Service and protecting lives and property in Ghana.
