Article : GES, Education Ministry Must Intervene On Exorbitant Pricing Of Textbooks At Pre - Tertiary Schools

 The Founder and Leader of Kingdom Gospel Foundation Network, Apostle Lawrence Kwaw Sam has urged the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education to intervene in the exorbitant cost of books in the country.

According to Apostle Lawrence Kwaw, the producers and vendors of textbooks and exercise books for pre - tertiary schools have taken advantage of the unregulated system and selling their products to parents at higher cost. 

"the rate at which students are made to buy books and the cost involved is unimaginable. This is putting a huge financial burden on the already struggling parents in the country" he lamented. 

The Founder indicated that basic school students are seen on road sides and streets carrying bags filled with books to and from classes on daily basis more than they needed. 

Apostle Kwaw quizzed that "how can a class four students carry such a lengthy and highly priced books to school as if he or she is in the university. 

He further bemoaned the state at which some school authorities have made it compulsory for parents to buy books from their school at an unbearable price even higher than other outlets on the streets.

 I am calling on the Director - General of the GES, Dr Nkansah and the Minister of Education, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum, he noted, to intervene on this worrying issue and solve it amicably saying that our poor parents are suffering.

The Leader entreated the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA), the National Peace Council (NPC) and the National Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) and other stakeholders to conduct investigation on the ongoing worrying situation and end it.

 The Kingdom Gospel Foundation Network is a Christian center conducting Bible studies, intercessory prayers, Bible teaching, Sunday services and other religious activities on daily basis to lead people to the kingdom of God.

It is also a training center for nurturing and raising Christian leaders to become pastors and other workers in the vineyard of God.
