The Institute of Coastal Climate and Environmental Protection (ICCEP-GHANA) warmly congratulates His Excellency, the President of Ghana, on the historic appointment of a Minister for Climate Change and Sustainability.
The Institute of Coastal Climate and Environmental Protection is a research and advocacy organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development and environmental stewardship in Ghana.
In a statement released and signed by Emmanuel Gameli Dovia of the institute on Wednesday, said this landmark decision underscores the President's commitment to addressing the pressing issues of climate change and environmental degradation.
By dedicating a ministerial portfolio to this critical area, he indicated, the government demonstrates its resolve to tackle the challenges posed by climate change and ensure a sustainable future for Ghana.
"At ICCEP-GHANA, we believe that this appointment marks a significant milestone in Ghana's efforts to combat climate change" Mr Gameli Dovia reiterated.
The statement further added that we look forward to collaborating with the new Minister and supporting the government's initiatives to promote sustainability and environmental protection.
Addressing climate change issues in coastal areas including Aflao, Keta, Anloga, and Ada, the ICCEP-GHANA official emphasized that, it is crucial, as these regions are highly vulnerable to rising sea levels, intense storms, and erosion.
He implored that the minister's efforts should focus on implementing measures to protect coastal ecosystems, infrastructure, and communities.
Mr Gameli Dovia expressed appreciation to the President's leadership on this critical issue and pledged the ICCEP-GHANA's full support for the Minister's efforts to address the challenges of climate change.
